Miscellany II
1) Quiz scores - So apparently, I made this last quiz too hard. Sorry about that. Like I said, it was the hardest quiz to judge the difficulty of, since I knew the answers. I only tried to make one tricky question (the AV-wear question that is haunting Syar), all the rest I thought wouldn't be so bad. I'm actually curious about what questions people got right on this, seeing as how most only got one or two. Since the highest score is a 40%, curve all of your grades up by 50% (because I don't want to give away a 100% score). Glo and X, you guys still fail with a 60% (which is ironic, since you two have been coming to this site the longest). But 20% and higher, those curve up to passing grades. Well done.
2) The poll results - More than half of you would choose a trip to western NY? You do realize that it's neither close to nor anything like New York City, right? I like my hometown, but we haven't got much going for the tourists. We do have the bad half of Niagara Falls in western NY (Canada's got the good half), but that's about it. I really expected the lingerie line to be the big winner. That'll teach me to build up inventory before doing my market research.

Back to regular posting tomorrow.

I read that last line as "tv threesomes." I think I need to go to sleep.

Ok, I finally got to take the quiz, and as I predicted, I got a 30%, but I had to take it again because I know I missed two fill in the blanks because I was too quick to hit check… I had Sportcenter instead of Sportscenter and Pete Pan instead of Peter Pan, so I like to think I got a 50% because I’m all about knowing at least half the details. Other than that, I got the Wedding one (I always remember stories about guys who have to look away for fear of crying… happy crying that is) The College one and I can’t remember the other one… I’m getting old…

okay, i have a gripe. i thought you meant what type of peanut butter, not what brand.also, i'm with syar, i chose laura bush too, but it was a guess. how doyou think we'd remember that shit?the stuff about YOU i can do. the stuff about random shit you made up on a whim...that's a completely different story. i thought this was hard! i only got a 30% i should have reviewed and then taken it...

i got the laura bush one wrong too. i say you throw out that question for next semester.

jon - Accurate spelling/typing counts here at omarphillips.net. 30% it is. But with the curve, that's really 80%. Keep your chin up, young man. You'll do better next time.
jasmine - The question does specifically ask which brand. The other question though, the laura bush one, I am considering throwing that question out. But your 30% was one of the higher scores.
17 - I've got good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that Utica, Ithaca, and most of the finger lakes region are considered Central NY, not western (and therefore, would not be included in the all-expense paid trip). The good news is that all of our Subways have an excellent assortment of cheese, including provolone.

I have officially failed my first test and not blown a curve. I cried a little - those tears of joy that count so much. It's a big day in the life of a perfectionist. So, if all you've got is prototype, can I have that lingerie? Looks just my size...

glo - I've got boxes and boxes of this stuff. I'd be happy to send it to you. It doesn't look like I'll be able to sell any of it, since further market research has shown that men don't like their women wearing undergarments that have another man's name displayed on them. Who knew?

yay for grading on a curve; at least now i'm passing and won't have shamed my family. very cute prize, omar. i believe i only got the sportscenter (every straight man i know with cable does that) and the penn state ones correct. i'm glad to know that i wasn't the only one to find this quiz challenging. how about a quiz on tv themesongs? i think i'd do much better at that.

I happen to *love* upstate and western NY, the whole finger lakes/buffalo/niagra/ithaca/utica area is a-OK by me. Maybe because I used to have to go to Utica on business fairly regularly, and the Subway there would put provolone cheese on a sandwich. Here in Indiana, if you ask for provolone they say 'bless you' and then ask "you want white cheese? or yellow?" I'll always love Utica for that. **sniff, sniff**
