There's no bell to save you
Several weeks ago, I professed my love for all things Saved By the Bell. Then, omarphillips.net gold club member cadiz12 planted the seed about making a quiz based on this great, great TV series.
Well, I finally got around to it. Frankly, I think it's a little bit easy by omarphillips.net standards. But that could be because I have seen every single episode approximately 37 times.
Please post scores in comments.
As a side note, I have created a category called "Quiz," which you can find in the category pulldown on the left. omarphillips.net newbies will be able to find previous quizzes there (should be up in the next day or so). Based on prior results, I should warn you: don't take these quizzes if your self esteem has been low lately.

I scored 100%. Just wanted to make that known.

I disappointed myself... But I haven't seen the show in ages. Still, I think I need a good cry now...

okay, this is pathetic. i got 50% but i have to say, a) i got A.C right, b) i have no idea who patrick muldoon is c) i don't pay attention to breasts d) i could have SWORN i knew belding's first name and e) that screech thing was a trick question. also, i got the dvds for my bro, who promptly took them away to school, so i haven't seen s.b.t.b. in like 4 years. (remember, no cable). i'm not making excuses for my poor performance, but i did feel a little pressure b/c i was the one who suggested this quiz topic.
howcome you're not as witty with the congratulatory comments, omar? and i noticed there were an awful lot of boy-centric questions here. how about something about the men-talk show mario lopez is on now where his hair is straight or what m.p. gosselar's name was on the cop show or about that rumor that he had died that made me so sad in high school? what about all that, pal?
cadiz12 said:
and p.s. just a little bit of trivia for you:
the guy who played belding was a drunk guy in a bar who tried to hit on daisy in the pilot episode of Dukes of Hazzard. he's all scraggly with a nasty beard, but i watched it on slo-mo and it's def him.
The Wife said:
I scored 50%. And frankly, I'm ashamed to admit that I got 5 of them correct. I have two words for you on why I got those 5 questions: Las Vegas. Actually, I was waiting for a question about Leah Remini.
cadiz12 said:
AAAND, i was disappointed there were no questions about the corosis. this means that there should be a sbtb quiz part II. (just a suggestion.)
cadiz12 said:
MY GOODNESS. omar, your wife and i are surfing the same wavelength.
Berrygirl said:
60% - I pretty much suck at this!! I swear I watched that show all through middle school and high school.
cadiz12 said:
okay, omar, sorry to be such a chronic commenter, but i have to say hello to The Wife! Hi, The Wife! it's so great to see you!
Lou said:
I only managed 40%. But I too haven't had cable in years!

Despite having watched this show obsessively from the ages of 7-9 (give or take a few years), I'm afraid I'm gonna have to use my "I'm-only-17-so-my-true-exposure-to-pop-culture-only-began-in-the-late-90s-plus-stupid-cable-refuses-to-play-reruns-of-SBTB-even-though-it's-the-best-thing-ever-and-not-just-on-TV!" pass here as an excuse for scoring a pathetic 40%.
And, OMG, big Hi to The Wife! :)
I will need some explanation about the Las Vegas and Leah Remini comments though...

Omar, you are on fire!! Doesn’t that mean you are perfect on every quiz so far? That’s amazing.
Having said that, I think you will be awed by the phenomenal 40% I just threw down! Yeah, that might not sound like much, but Nike was pretty impressed by it. We’re hashing out the details right now, but I’m about to sign a contract with them. They will be sponsoring my next quiz effort. They see the potential.
It never ceases to amaze me how sharp the edge of omarphillips.net is.

I got forty percent!
DEFERRED SUCCESS!

Jon - Let us know your contract details once it's all hashed out. Don't let em sell you short; a great many regrets in my life come directly from letting myself get screwed over by a major sportswear company.
"Omar, you are on fire!! Doesn’t that mean you are perfect (FULL STOP)"
Just so you know, Omar, I would've left that sentence just like that*.
*How much more should I flatter you so that you'll make the next quiz easier? Maybe a Buffy-centric one for Glo, Cate and myself? X may be enthusiastic about his deferred success, but me? Not so much.

40% here. Yay for me. I haven't seen that show in AGES. It's kinda sad. The last time I caught a glimpse of an episode was when they would play the reruns at 6:30 or 7am before I was leaving the house.
I wish I could regress to middle school days when my biggest priorities were to get ready for school and watch reruns of Saved by the Bell and Gilligan's Island before the bus came.
So sad.

I got a 50%. Kind of disappointed, as I thought i would do better than that. And I thought I knew what AC stood for since he was my favorite character. Hmmph.

there's so many threads I wanna follow here.
first off, a mucho grande big wave to The Wife!
secondly, I got 40%. I'm not surprised, I crapped my way through anyway. when you asked that AC question, I laughed and typed in Aaron Carter. Sorry for tainting your quiz, btw.
and lastly I totally agree with nadia on a buffy-centric quiz. pkus if nike, jon and x can be happy with 40% then goddammit, so can I.
I said:
Glad to see my quizzes haven't lost their touch.
viking - You didn't reveal your score!
cadiz - I don't know, some of those sounded like excuses for your 50% score. I didn't add corosi questions because I figured they'd be too easy (though denise richards' appearance on the show was during that season). And yes, the questions are boy-centric. I find it hard to think like a girl. I would have asked the wife, but then she would have had advance knowledge of the questions. I can't have that.
berrygirl - If you suck at this, then everyone else REALLY sucks. You've got the highest score so far!
lou - 40% is nothing to be embarrassed about. Well, maybe just a little embarrassed. But as you can see, your peers did not fare much better.
nadia - I checked the omarphillips.net quiz rulebook, and I'm pretty sure that pass is not valid here. Your 40% score stands as is.
jon - I actually wouldn't have scored 100 on the music quiz. But all the rest of 'em, I've aced. Let me know when the "Air Jons" come out, I'll buy a pair.
X - Ruth Kelly and I beg to differ.
more nadia - Flattery is always welcome. I don't expect it will affect the difficulty of the next quiz, but it's worth a try. Bring on a little more flattery and we'll see how it goes.
me - I'm glad to see all this excitement over 40% scores!
mep - Slater was a stud. If you ignore his curly mullet, the muscles made all kinds of teenage boys envious.
syar - Regarding the Buffy quiz, it's not likely. I've never in my life seen even 5 minutes of an episode of Buffy (nor did I see the movie). It would be too hard to come up with questions and/or gauge the difficulty.
Syar said:
i'd persuade you to reconsider buffy, but I wouldn't take you for a fan of the Buffster anyway. ah well. till the next quiz and "deffered success"* of a less than half score.

We could make the quiz up for you! Giving you the answers before hand of course, so as to maintain the illusi---the perfectability that is you.

God bless MovableType/TypeKey/whatever. Your comment page is the only one the college's system didn't classify as pornography and block. For all I know, I'm now a registered sex offender.

hey, anyone else take 10 years to grasp the mr. belding = bell:'DING' connection to the show? or was it just me? i just realized that a few months ago. cheesy, but clever. just the way i like 'em.

Holy crap - cadiz12
I just got a wrinkle in my brain (if that's even true)
I never realized the whole belding=bell-ding thing.

So you're quizzing us on a show I've never even heard of (sorry) and denying us Buffy? Dammit. I feel so left out.
I said:
cadiz - I never noticed that! So apparently it took me MORE than 10 years to figure it out.
scroob - You've never heard of Saved By the Bell?!? If you had said never seen it, that would be one thing. Never heard of it? I don't even know what to say.
scroobious said:
I'm South African. I grew up without a TV. Now I live in the UK. Pretty sure they never showed that here either. So, don't hate me. It's not my fault... I might have heard of it, but not in any way that stuck with me, unlike I Love Lucy and so on. Never seen that either. But at least I know what it is.

scroob, I'd like to make it very clear that I don't hate you. I'm amazed about the Saved By the Bell thing, but it's not hate.
