Photos and polls
X, Scroob, Sarah, Jym, and about a million others have influenced me to start using Flickr to post pictures online.
omar trivia fact #387: Omar worked as a photographer for a year or so
omar trivia fact #388: Omar really likes to take and look at pictures
You can access it from my sidebar, if you so choose. I'll be posting some of my old favorites, current favorites, and the occasional Photoshop-altered favorite. Enjoy.

Regarding the poll, it is in reference to golfer Michelle Wie who is expected to go pro within the next couple of weeks. It is expected that in her first year, she will make $10 million in endorsement money - PLUS whatever she earns on the golf course (if she were pro already, she would be in the top 10 of this year's money list).
Michelle turns 16 years old on October 11th.
It drives me absolutely batty when I hear people say that these kids shouldn't be able to get these big contracts or make big money. Why not? Why can't someone benefit from their natural talent and hard work?
I do think that a 15 year old might not be able to put that kind of money in perspective, and that they should have some sort of guidance with regards to managing it. But if someone's willing to pay them that kind of money, I say they'd be crazy not to take it.

Who needs perspective when you've got 10 million dollars?! I thought that kind of money was supposed to buy you freedom from all that crap?!
Oh, and just for the record, I know lots of poor people without perspective. So, let her have the money. Better to be rich and strung out than poor and similarly whacked. (But I'm sure she's a well-grounded youngster...I'm just opining to pass the time.)

I really don't get why anyone wouldn't give her it.

I was all excited about photos, but it appears that Flickr is getting some massage or something. Bah.

BTW- photos are incredible...

I thought MEP was joking when she said Flickr was getting a massage. That is actually what the error message said.
That's what it is, Flickr staff, an error message. Don't try and divert our attention from it by making it "funny".

Yeah, it seems as though Flickr has been a little flaky over the past couple of days. Their error message was funny the first time. Error messages are never as funny the second time around.

But a massage is never a bad idea...not even for a website. Wonder if I can get one for my blog...it needs it desperately....
