Dad, can we get Bud Light this time?
All I needed to get me out of my blogging funk were a few encouraging comments from good people and an early morning trip to 7-Eleven, where I saw this sign:

It wasn't until I showed this photo to someone else and saw their indifference that I actually understood what the sign meant. They're saying that 20-packs of the Budweiser family of beers and the Michelob family of beers are all selling for $12.99.
Needless to say, this is NOT how I originally interpreted the sign.
I had some funny stories running through my mind about Bobby-Jim and his cousin/wife buying family packs of beer, because, you know, $12.99 is a great price for beer for the entire family. Then I cracked myself up even more because I realized there were 20 beers in the family pack, which would be quite a night for the average family of 4 or 5.
"Bobby-Jim Jr, I'll race you! Last one to finish their four beers has to go clean the stables!"
"YEEEE haw, you're on, cousin Dad! (glug, glug, glug...)"
Indeed, this was just what I needed to get the creativity flowing again.*

* The sign, not the 20 pack.

That's what I like most about these product lines: they're family friendly through and through. Yep, one big happy beer-guzzling family; that's the American paradigm.

I worked at 7-Eleven for a summer and during training they showed these old, early 90's training videos. The videos were from the States and I remember being shocked not only by the not-quite-retro clothing but that you could buy liquor at the convience store. In Canada you can only buy liquor at a liquor store, not at convience stores or grocery stores etc. However, in Japan, they have vending machines where you can buy liquor. You can often find the vending machines outside where anyone at anytime can buy some brew.

I think the 20 pack would have started churning the creativity too... hell even a 12 pack does wonders for me!

I took it as the Bud & Mich family was being sold. I thought Bud & Mich were the parents and their entire family was up for sale.

Lou - In the US, it's a state-by-state law about where you can buy alcohol, so some states do have the same law as Canada in that regard. Not mine. A liquor vending machine?! That would be interesting. I wonder where you would put that (workplace, malls, etc.)?
Wes!! Thanks for stopping by. And thanks for making my misinterpretation of the sign sound much more reasonable.

Hmm...just realized I may have absorbed too much Missouri during vacation. What exactly is wrong with any of this sign? Sell your family, get some beer....clean the stables....and a big ole yee haw to y'all.
