Perspective
Last week, I had to get up and walk three steps from my spot on the couch to get the remote control. This upset me. I grumbled to myself about it. My parents, I'm pretty sure they weren't notified. And if they were, I'm quite sure they didn't call any other family or friends to tell them.
The boy also stood up and took three steps. His parents got all giddy and started making phone calls and telling the internet.
It almost seems unfair.

Awww. Good for the boy! That's a big day!
Actually, good for you both. Since that aborted attempt at healthy living, well, that makes 3 steps total for you, doesn't it?!

For those that missed it, we have a winner in the 2000th comment contest! See the comments from the previous post. Details coming in the next post.
cadiz - I still have mad love for the stepometer. I have just lowered my standards to make myself feel better. Instead of 100000-12000 steps per day, I aim for 6000-8000. It's too cold to do any additional walking/running.
glo - No attempts have yet been aborted. I'm still attempting! I may not be attempting with the same vigor as before, but hope is still alive.

Ever so glad to hear it. Walking is tough business, but now that you and the boy can do it together, you're sure to see succes ;)

Yeah, lowering your goal from 100,000 steps per day was probably a good idea. I'm not saying you don't have it in you, but I do think that's setting the bar a little high. In a secret confession related note, I bought a stepometer shortly after I read your post on it awhile back and I rarely cracked the 5,000 mark. Then I lost it while playing softball. I cried about it for awhile, but then I remebered I spent $4.99 on it and I cried even harder... ok, I gotta go, but congrats on the boys first steps :)

Sure, Jon comes out of hibernation ONLY to give me a hard time about my typo. :)

today... 3 steps.
15 years from now... "where do you think you're going?"

eh, omar, what's up with the low goals? i'm sure you'll crack that 8,000 mark chasing after the boy once he really gets the hang of toddling around.

That's three steps closer to maturity than most boys I know.

Yes, yes it has. I owe it all to my darling parents, to whom freedom of speech is perfectly acceptable...
Until they realize I'm a teenager with raging hormones and a tendency to lie.
Um. Good luck with the boy, Omar.
