Don't fear white space
Similar to what happened to Viking recently, I felt like that last template had some kind of weird vibe. It was strange, I can't explain it. Luckily, I don't owe you an explanation. You're not the boss of me. I changed templates, and I didn't even ask you.
Sorry, I didn't mean to get all belligerent. When I start to try to explain my emotions, I get nervous, and then my inner Samuel L. Jackson comes out as a defense mechanism. Anyway, new template. I hope everything works. If not, or if you hate it, please send complaints to yousuck@omarphillips.net.

::looks nervous and edges away:: The new template is... fantastic! Yes, absolutely... Beautimous! ::edges farther away::
Nah, I'm just kidding. I do like the change, it's so mcuh more interesting. Though, you know, I'll have to be truly disappoint if you don't change the header like you used to. I love that.

temper, temper.
The new template is ok. a bit stark, but I like the new graphics in the sidebar.
and you've outdone yourself again with the header thing :
I think that says omarphillips.net, but I'm honestly not sure.
go put your inner samuel l jackson down for a nap Omar. you make the starkness work.

Dear yousuck@omarphillips.net,
the new header makes my eyes bleed. ty.

If I hadn't JUST gotten my eyes checked at the optometrist's office last week I would think that I needed to change my contacts and then re-read the header. :)
But the change is cool - I did a bit of a double take at the url to make sure I hit the right bookmark, but you know . . . change is fun.

Hmm, this new look reminds me of something... wait, no it doesn't.
But I like it. I'm easy like that.
Chez* cliches:
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Hey, beholder! you got something in your eye, man. Yeah. It's a real beauty, too.
"The more things change, the more they remain the same." Um. No. This isn't philosophy class.
"Love it or leave it." Or possibly, like it and come and go as you please.
* Chez: That's Jamian for "cheesy."

I think the new template looks FANTASTIC. Omar, you are my blog design GURU.

Hey, you're not going to tell me how to arrange the furniture in my living room, I'm not gonna tell you how to arrange your template. But I think it looks nice.
I said:
Becky - Are the czech cows scary? Is it "boo!" like a ghost, as you said? Or is it "boo" as in they are voicing their displeasure with something? We may never know.
Katie - Change the header how? I don't want to disappoint!
Syar - This new template design name has now been changed from "belligerent" to "stark." I like it.
cadiz - Thanks, yo!
Jackie - Sorry about the bleeding eyes thing. That actually also happened to a few of the people in the test group who got to preview the template, but the design and legal teams combined to decide that causing readers' eyes to bleed was a risk worth taking to shake the "weird" vibe.
mep - With the exception of a few sentences in this post, I generally do my best to keep things fun. Generally.
RaV - I like "like it and come and go as you please."
Cate - Thank you, and I'll be adding "cate's blog design guru" to my resume.
Sarah - I don't love where your couch is, but whatever.

The main header, at the very top of every page, that you change with the season. the Omarphillips.net bit. I especially enjoyed the snowman saying...."It hurts when I pee."

i'm not loving it. but it's not mine, so who gives a fuck.
which, now that i'm reading, echoes some sentiment already here.
peace out.

I think everything is kinda spiffy apart from something I don't think you've had since you were on Blogger: you know how you've got that link up there that says "Main"? Instead of clicking that, the first thing I do is click on the header graphic to get back to the main page before I realise that yours isn't actually active.
Fair enough, that realisation only takes a fraction of a second, but it's the fractions of seconds that will eventually add up to me missing about one year of reading omarphillips.net. I don't think I'd be able to deal with that.

X, I do the same damn thing on my own blog. Originally, I had messed up the CSS so that making it a clickable link also put a colored border around it (this was back when I first started using MT). Now that I know how to fix it, I've just been too lazy to do so. It's next on my list.

I got an email back that read "postmaster alert: email unsent; address does not exist"
Now what?

if that nameplate were a little more orangey, i would say it reminded me of The Thing from Fantastic Four. all craggy-like. is this your inner superhero coming out, omar?
I said:
Dem, that yousuck email address does work (as proven by Cate, who was the only one who actually did send to it). Not sure why it bounced back... Though you just gave me the brilliant idea to set up a filter that has certain negative keywords, and if they are detected, it will send an auto-reply that looks like a bounceback. Working on that now.

Uhm....no. Sorry. It's just not cutting edge enough.

Is it too late to say "I like it, it looks cool"?
Of course, my stamp of approval is of dubious value in assessing if the design is cutting edge, since I am a middle-aged Midwestern mom. In fact, maybe you don't want my approval after all...

Brrr, too cold and stark. It's gonna take some time to warm up to this template. By then, you'll change it again. Too plain for you. Plus, no thieving vole.
Lia said:
If you like it, it's okay with me. I come for content, not padding. Although it helps when the padding is nice.
At least it retains some sort of humor, even while becoming slightly boring-ish.
DaveB said:
I think it is nice. Not Fantatstic or even Great. Just nice. About as good as the Vole could do I think. So, no showing him/her up. Setting an even playing field- in that regard I really like it. Fair play, thats my motto.
