Help Settle an Argument
I need your help, Internet. Help prove me right.
I tried to make a poll question out of this, but there are too many options. I need you to leave me a comment with the following information:
- Your gender
- How old are the articles of clothing you are wearing right now
To clarify, I'm talking about outerwear only. Don't tell me about the granny panties from 1979. If you're nude, and your a girl, I think you meant to go to that other black guy's website. If you're a nude guy, well, I... why are you reading my site without any clothes on? In fact, let me further clarify and say the last clothing you wore outside. Shirt, pants, skirt, etc. No accessories. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Don't let me down by making me out to be wrong.
I'll start.

is this to show women need to replace clothes more often? because i have some very old stuff in the rotation even though i don't happen to be wearing it right now.

How do you all remember when you bought your clothes?
Sorry, Omar, I am probably throwing off your curve, it seems.

Jeans: New - because I got fat and could not fit into my 2003 ones. :(
Polo: Probably 2004
Omar: I would have a completely different answer in the winter. I have some button up shirts that I have had for quite a while.
BTW, I would probably skew the results with most of my pants, I had a small drier/pen incident about a month ago that killed off of my work kakis, and a bunch of my shorts.

The argument was, in fact, about which gender is more likely to be wearing newer clothes.
I was actually on the side that said WOMEN were more likely to be wearing older clothes. We men have a favorite shirt from 10 years ago they won't get rid of, but day to day, I guessed we wear newer stuff. (That's certainly the case in my house, though it's mostly because I've gotten fatter over the past couple of years, so a little wardrobe turnover was necessary.)
I put all the info from your comments into Excel to get an average per gender (I like to have tangible data when I win arguments, and I'm a bit of a nerd). Male - 2004.067, Female - 2004. The difference may be statistically insignificant, but the point is, I'm right. Thanks all! (Special thanks to Lanna and Seventeen, as without them, I would have been wrong.)

I am a female wearing a skirt from 2002. It's a navy blue, plain skirt, worn with a lovely t-shirt I purchased about 2 weeks ago. Alas, I am late to the party, so my comment doesn't count. I just wanted to type "haboob".

I was going to say that I would skew your stats, but since I'm supporting your hypothesis, I don't have to. Wait, I just did.
Anyhow,
Shirts - 2000, 2001 (two shirts, I'm also layering)
Skirt - 2006, but it's exactly the same as one I've had since the 90's. I wear it to death, go back to the same store, and buy a new one. So it's really a fluke that this one happens to be pretty new.

you have to be kidding me with all the women wearing 2006 stuff that you still consider yourself a winner here.

Pants are Dockers from 1992, no joke. They were my dad's, but were too small for him so he gave them to me.
