By the Numbers: Anniversary Edition
48 - What I shot in the last 9-holes of golf I played as a bachelor, the morning of my wedding day. This was 5 or 6 shots worse than my normal 9-hole score at the time. I remember important details like this.
4 p.m. - Time that my wedding started.
0 - Number of times I saw or spoke to my bride-to-be on my wedding day, prior to "showtime." I'm not often superstitious, but sometimes I am.
3,000,000,000 - Approximate number of women who lost their chance to win me when I got married.
5 - Number of years, to the day, since I got married.
10 - Number of years since I started dating that lady I got married to.
1 - Number of lucky bastards I am for finding such an amazing person to share my life with.

This would have warmed the very cockles of my heart, if only I hadn't had them surgically removed.
I wish you guys a lifetime of happiness! You know, in our faith you don't get out of it at til death do you part. We marry for all time and eternity. Talk about pressure!

Super congratulations!
However, I do need to take issue with you on one of your figures. See, with six billion people in the world, assuming that there is a 1:1 ratio of males to females (which there more or less is), that would leave you with around three billion females, but not three billion women.
According to estimates at the CIA World Factbook, about 2.1 billion women are between the ages 15-64, which would put your approximation closer to the two billion mark, and even that would assume that you were welcoming advances from cougars and testing the limits of the age of consent laws in your jurisdiction.
Assuming a normal distribution, a more valid figure would be around 1.5 billion, which would discount those below the age of 18 and those above the age of 40.
No matter what anyone tells you, no, I haven't thought about this before.

An excellent point, X. I should have only counted those females over age 18. That includes those over 40 though, because really, I think they lost their chance too.

I'm torn between genuine, whole-hearted joy for you and the Wife and pure, abject distress at my loss. Oh well, I only became eligible four months ago anyway.
Congratulations, Omar!

WHAT?! i thought i was the only misfortunate one to have such a horrible boss (an old job). that bastard wouldn't let me take the saturday to be maid of honor for ONE OF OUR COWORKERS (!) because they couldn't have more than one person off.
