That day in history
I was tagged by RaJ with this history meme. Little known fact about Omar, I'm a fan of the social studies, particularly history and economics. I would have wanted to be a high school social studies teacher, if it didn't involve reading or working with teenaged kids. Anyway, on to the meme!
1. Go to Wikipedia and enter your birthday without the year: done.
2. List three events that occurred that day:
- 1865 -U.S. President Abraham Lincoln is shot in Ford's Theatre by John Wilkes Booth.
- 1912 - The British ocean liner RMS Titanic strikes an iceberg in the North Atlantic on its maiden voyage at 11:40 P.M., plunging beneath the waves and taking with it over 1,500 lives at about 2:20 a.m. the following morning.
- 2007 - Britain's Prince William broke up with then-girlfriend Kate Middleton whom it was widely speculated he would marry. Middleton would have eventually become Queen of England if the relationship had lasted. - Yeah, if it had lasted another 40 years. Don't they know that no celebrity marriages last that long these days?
3. List two important birthdays:
- 1941 - Pete Rose, American baseball player. I bet you didn't know that!
- 1968 - Anthony Michael Hall, American actor. "Well, in physics club, we... we talk about physics, properties of physics."
4. List one death:
- 1995 - Burl Ives, American singer and actor. Sometimes it's hard for me to have a holly jolly April 14th.
5. List one holiday or observance:
- Black Day - Informal celebration day for single people in South Korea. I was not aware of "Black Day," though if I was, I wouldn't have guessed it to be about single South Koreans, based on the name.

Ha! *I* knew Pete Rose was an American baseball player.

How do you informally celebrate something? Do all the single South Korean’s just nod to each other in approval? I’m going to need more info on this one.

i'm going to have to do this.
1.) because it's interesting
2.) becuase i wasn't tagged. somehow, being not tagged for meme's make me want to do them. reverse psychology sucks.

so are they supposed to be depressed that they're single? geez, i thought south korea was the evolved one.
Lia said:
Singlehood can certainly be depressing, but the blackness is really just because it's the most flattering (non)color you can wear. Obviously, singles want to look attractive.
Before you yell at me, I know married people want to look attractive, too.

I too must do this meme, as its all trendy now and as usual, any time anything's trendy, people forget to invite me. Jazz is so right.
Black Day sounds sad.
