By the Numbers: No good reason edition
150 - Approximate number of minutes I've spent on Apple's website since yesterday afternoon, staring dreamily at the new iPods.
12 - Number of hours I've spent watching this year's US Open tennis coverage so far.
2 - Most number of hours I think I had watched of any US Open, prior to this year. I caught the tennis bug, big time. I still suck at playing tennis, though.
.5 - Approximate number of hours of computer time I've averaged over the past couple of nights. Since I've had a laptop, this may be an all-time low. (Some who are quick at math might say, "hey, if he only spent a half hour on the computer at home, but he spent two and a half hours on Apple's site since yesterday, does that mean he's been staring at iPods while on the job?" My response is three-fold. First, part of my job is to be aware of new technology. Second, I said I averaged a half hour. Third, hey, come closer and smell this chloroform-soaked rag flower...)
15 - Number of times I've had to listen to the song, "Jump Up" by The Doodlebops since Tuesday. I won't point any fingers, but let's say it wasn't my choice, and it wasn't the wife's choice to have listened to it this many times.
5 - Number of days ago I first heard about these Doodlebops. Based on how quickly the boy got sucked into their music, I'm not yet convinced they don't use similar subliminal tactics to those used by the Wiggles.
1 - Number of big changes coming soon for this site. Movable type has a new version out, but I don't know if all my existing plugins that I use for my current template are compatible. Of course I can't stand being a version behind, so I'll either be changing to the new version of MT (which will likely require some major site changes), or switch to Wordpress (which will certainly require some major site changes). Stay tuned.

My husband tried to teach me tennis. Yeah- I suck. I hit the ball over the fence every single time.
The Wiggles are better than the Doodlebops. I have a dream crush on Anthony. (The blue Wiggle) NOTHING is right about the Doodlebops.

Tori, no need to sing the Wiggles' praise to me. Between you and me, after going to their concert last month, I think I also have a dream crush on Anthony.

The iPods! The iPhone's cool new price! omarphillips.net upcoming changes! So early in the morning for me to process.
I had to google Doodlebops. The one with the blue hair creeps me out. Perhaps it's because I don't like clowns and he looks like one.
I now feel like smelling that flower .

I've had a nano for the last 2 years or so. I love it. When I had to chose an ipod, it came down to size vs video. I went with size. Now it's size of video... but really, I'll probably just get a new nano and only use it for video, while still using my old one just for music... or will I wait for the Gphone??? Try not to let the suspense kill you.
Ps, you were nominated several months ago for the SNJ hall of fame. I nominated you, so it was pretty much a lock. It was only going to be another 5 months before it became official, but the judges were recently swayed by some very impressive code work, so they've decided to bypass a fair amount of red tape. Congrats, you're in. Say hello to Cadiz and Jazz when you visit.

i've just figured out the code work. welcome to the snj hall of fame, superstar!

The Doodlebops are super scary. I refuse to let them into our TV. Besides, the Wiggles are enough for me...I already know all their songs by heart...and doesn't that make my existence pitiful enough?!

Wordpress-ness! Whee!
I don't know if that's the choloroform working on my system or...-THUD!

I thought the Doodlebops were Satan's little helpers incognito, until Luke discovered Yo Gabba Gabba (Nick jr) beware. Be scared also.

Congrats on your recent induction to the SNJ hall of fame.
I saw I needed to remind you to thank me for the link, But then the reminder disappeared so I don’t know if that means I should still remind you or that you thanked me already and I forgot or that I imagined the whole thing and I have delusion of grandeur.
Anyway dot com.

welcome to the esteemed hall of fame omar!
also, i will never understand why adults like the wiggles. it is also probably the same reason i'll never have children.

P.P.S. 24 = Number of hours I have spent being pissed that we bought my iPhone on Sunday...just days before they announced they were lowering the price by $200.

If your child has gotten to the point that he's watching Doodlebops, then it's time to unplug the television.
Seriously.

Wiggles were bad enough, but The Doodlebops?
They make me want to poke my eyes out.

There are other shows besides weird people dancing and singing, you know.
Fireman Sam (on demand). Now there's a boy's show.

Sheesh, next thing you know, he'll be watching "Yo Gabba Gabba", and singing "Party In My Tummy" at dinner.

wow. after spending all week babysitting the nephew, i feel for all of you parental people who are parents, and HAVE to watch Pingu and Boo-Bah and the like (although Pingu is sorta cute), because after one short week, i want to rip my eyes out of my own head at any mere glimpse of PBS Sprout...
as for the iPhone, i am waiting for the second generation before making the purchase. that way all the kinks'll be worked out. are there kinks? is that just a lie i've been telling myself? should i go ahead and get one? the whole "waiting for the kinks" argument" has worked so far at keeping me out of the at&t store... because without it? i'd have already bought two. for myself.
and i can't believe you would use company resources to play around on the internet! how dare you! i would totally never ever do that, ever. (except for the times that i do, i.e. every day)

So, this is my Apple story.
After losing my ipod in the move back in July, I finally decided I'd buy another.
On Tuesday night I won a bid on eBay for a Nano. $172 for a brand new Nano. I was feeling good.
On Wednesday I saw the news from Apple.
Sometimes life just sucks.
