Catch Up
And I signed up to write 30 posts in how many days?
Thanks to those who have sent in submissions for the latest photo assignment. (Let it be known that Bruno will not be visiting Aubrey, Sarah, Tori, Silandara, Jon, Cadiz, and Jonathan, who all had their assignments in on time.) I meant to make a gallery of images today, but I never got a chance. Then I was going to do it after Chuck tonight, but then tears and flattery persuaded me to extend the deadline. But because Tuesday night TV is horrible, I will very likely post the assignment results Tuesday night.
I carved one of our pumpkins tonight. In case you're not familiar with my pumpkin carving, look at my 2005 effort and how I stepped it up in "oh sicks". (I read somewhere that the kids were all writing it like that last year. It's so appropriate that I didn't read that until 2006 was already over.) So here's how we do in the double-oh-seven:
I wouldn't say it screams "fear," but at least it's better than the vampire in '05. I'm still deciding what to do with our other pumpkin, I'll post pictures later in the week. The boy insists that I give it a face, and he also requested that I give the face a mustache and beard. I'm admittedly not sure how to carve that yet, but I'll see what I can do.

Tuesday is the busiest DVR night in the Ziehl house hold.
I do have another idea for a photo so I guess I'll have to rush home from work tomorrow to take and post the picture. I would do it tonight but I need to buy one thing for it.

I have to agree- Tuesday nite sucks in TV land.
Your jackolantern is quite impressive. Much better than my lame cat. I'll have to post it later...

Before you make your decision on what you're going to carve in your second pumpkin, you should know that I was given a special pumpkin dremel to work with this year. I seriously doubt it will make my pumpkin any better than last years, but I just wanted you to know that there will be power tools involved in my creation this year.

YAY!!! Who knew tears and flattery did work?
Ok, ok! I'm not a procrastinator, really, I am not. But I do have a good excuse.
Cool pumpkin. Nothing beats a happy ghost IMHO.

That's a cool pumpkin carving.
Duncan is in love with a pie pumpkin we picked up at the South Wedge Farmers Market a few weeks ago. He calls it "pumpkin pie" but has no intention of us turning it into an actual pumpkin pie. Shame. I love pie.
Other than hugging a little pumpkin until it rots, we have no other pumpkin-themed fall/Halloween plans. I'd probably just slice off my finger and the neighborhood punks would smash it on the street.

We're up to 15 entries. I know the movie referenced by all but 3 of them. I plan on just posting who submitted the photo, so that people can guess.

I meant they'd smash the pumpkin, not my finger. My finger would be in a bag of ice hoping to be surgically reattached.

Silandara: I was wondering what kind of tough neighborhood you lived in, where neighborhood punks would smash your severed finger on the street.
17 entries! Let's go for 20!

Omar, if you give me till about 7:00 I hope to have another entry for you. Ill do my best to get it to you before that but it might be tuff. Just hope it’s not a repeat of someone elses.

omar, i appreciate your appreciation for respect toward deadlines.
last year, the pumpkin i carved got rave reviews. unfortunately i think this year performance anxiety (or too much rum punch) caused me to misspell what i had written and have to turn it into a grotesque mouth. i'll have to do better in '08.
good work on yours, though! i particularly like the spiky stuff at the bottom.

That's much scarier than any pumpkin I've carved...unless you're a pumpkin...then the carnage I create is quite terrifying.
I missed the contest. Again.

Can't wait to see the results of the contest.
