Stop Thief!
A few weeks ago, I purchased this bundle of software that included a little stop-motion animation program. That had nothing to do with why I got the bundle, but since I had the program, I figured I'd break it out and give it a try.
Since then, the only thing breaking me away from making bad stop-motion movies is the occasional moment where I consider whether or not baking soda is in fact more versatile than duct tape. Oh, and parenting. But for the most part, it's been movie making. Here's a sample:
Thirty-something seconds long, it took me a good hour and a half to make it. And the wife and boy were already in bed, so it's not like I was neglecting anyone. I may have neglected to shower, but whatever. It's in the name of art.
And baking soda totally is more versatile than duct tape.

Hey! It's after midnight, which means it's Monday, February 11th...OMAR APPRECIATION DAY, w00t w00t!
I appreciate that hilarious video, and the fit of laughter that accompanied it!
The boy at my house would give up just about anything he owns to get his hands on that stop-motion animation program!
We're all about the duct tape.

I'm here for Omar Appreciation Day.
That video was so great--you are too clever. (Of course, I read all your comments on all the blogs I visit that you also visit, so I knew that already!)
My 22 year old would love that program--can you tell us the name of the program.
Couldn't survive without duct tape.

I think you've done a great job for only an hour and a half. Well done!

I think it would be funny if you had him trying to steal your waffle. You know, like an actual true-to-life usage for the phrase, "Hey, LEGO my EGO!"

Oh, and this was very clever. I guess it'll do while I sit waiting for the next installment of The Chase. :)

Very cute video.
Happy Omar Appreciation Day.

Baking Soda: 1 (soothed a nasty chemical burn from cleaning out something very old and very chile-y in my fridge)
Duct Tape: 0

HAPPY OMAR APPRECIATION DAY! I'm glad that your server is working again!
Too bad I laughed my bum off at that video. The fork lift was hilarious!

seven - Thanks! And I can't remember if I said "Welcome!" when you first commented. Probably not, so, "Welcome!"
aubrey - Thanks!
Nancy - w00t! If your boy has a Mac, he can get the same program (specifics mentioned below).
yvonne - Welcome! And thanks! The application I used is iStopMotion. It's Mac-only, so I don't know if that might be a prohibitive factor for some? I just have the basic Home version, I want to upgrade so that I can build the animation to a soundtrack (but I can't justify spending $60 for it).
Edna - Welcome! Thanks!
elastic - I'm working on the finale of The Chase! I promise!
Gabs - Welcome! Sorry about the burn, but thank goodness for the baking soda.
Sarah - Thanks!
Lia - Thanks! Can't wash hair with duct tape, though.
glittersmama - You've commented over here a few times, and I don't know if I've ever said "thanks for stopping by." Pardon my rudeness. Thanks for stopping by!
Tori - Way rad, that's how rad.
Jonathan - In hindsight, I wish I had made him walk a little slower for that part. He darts across the screen, then appears inside the wallet :) Next time.
cadiz - Thanks, yo.
Whitney - Thanks!
LisaThanks!
Lauren - THANKS! And thanks for all of the new visitors today, too.

I want to hear sound! I was actually wondering why you had not added any. Based on your past works on the site I kind of expected it. But was still very pleased with the video.
I’ll donate a $1 to the cause.
Now you just need to
1 - find 59 other eager readers
and
2 - figure out how to get my dollar. Although my dollar probably won’t be that hard to get(I can send it to work with Kristi), it’s the other loyal readers you will have to figure out.

It's ok not to shower once a week you know, it's for your blog fans.

Kris Face and Zach Face have both seen the video and it cracked them up! They appreciate you, too!

Omar, that was really cool! It totally worked!* What an awesome way to remind us how much we need to appreciate you this Omar Appreciation Day.
* I am so impressed, you have no idea.

This is not mine: Jonathan's plan reminded me of this
Lend me $10, but give me only half of it. Then you'll owe me $5, and I'll owe you $5, and we'll be even.
See? You can have enough for more movie making, The Chase finale and maybe even some leftover for pie making.

WHAT? I got a link on your sidebar? EXCELLENT! (Thankyouverymuch!)
I'm really enjoying the way this has turned out...Lauren does all the work, and her stinkin' Momma Face gets to come along for a free ride, muahaha!
Jayci said:
So Aubrey and Lauren both blot with you, and since Lauren is so adamant about Omar Appreciation Day, I thought I'd better scoot over! Happy Day to you! Gotta love baking soda! And I just noticed Lauren's name on the side bar. Very awesome indeed.
Lippy said:
LOL, I'm late to the party as usual. Came here on Lauren's recommendation! Nice to meet ya.

Congrats on being added to the calender with your own appreciation day! Your mother must be very proud.
I think it's time to move on your growing popularity. Set up a paypal account for everyone to donate to so that you can purchase the tools necessary to add a soundtrack. The movie is good, but sound really adds to the tone of the whole thing. I'm currently playing Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries while watching the clip. It is now epic.
If you need any other ideas on how to further exploit your fan base, drop me a line. Fan exploitation is my specialty.

Hard to believe that only took an hour and a half. :)
I think we should open up the discussion of duct tape vs. baking soda. Personally, and only because we use about 2 rolls a month keeping diapers on strong-willed little girls, I think duct tape might win.

When good legos go bad!
I don't dare show this to my boys because of the many legos under their beds. At night, in the dark, imaginations on full alert, the potential of a Lilliputian revolt and subsequent human's tied to the bed, might make them campout under my covers for months.
Can't wait for the next one. Bravo!

Happy (belated) Omar Appreciation Day!
By the way, the video was awesome.
Marie/y said:
That was so creative! I can't wait for the sequel and for the prequel. I'd say that making it was worth being smelly for a day. And your stench didn't extend to here in the flyover zone, so it couldn't have been that bad...

Omar, whats the record for most comments on a post?
We must be getting close with this one

So I am late. I still wanted you to know that I appreciate reading your comments on others' blogs.
You really know that Lauren deserves a linky on your side bar. Why do you tease the sweet child so. She's so cute and you are so great at commenting. share the love Omar.
Please give Lauren a linky on your side bar. Pretty Please with sugar on top. Or chocolate sprinkles. Whatever your fav topping is;)

HA! Boy, am I glad I don't have this program--I already spend way too much time on the computer!
And WHAT is Omar Appreciation Day? I guess there's a link somewhere on your home page...let me go see if I can figure out what this is about...
wynne said:
Nope. Can't figure it out. Maybe I should google it?
wynne said:
It's a Lauren(she-who-is-obsessed-with-fictional-vampire-heartthrob)-appointed holiday? How do we celebrate?
wynne said:
Is there a special song or something like that? An omar-ic anthem? Or do we stay up all night at our computers?
wynne said:
And--oh. Drat. It's OVER. Hmph.
wynne said:
(And did you know I recently wrote a post dedicated to duct tape? Though baking soda is more versatile, I suppose...)

Nice banner today.
However, The red ninja doesn't look very menacing today. Now he looks more like a little kid getting ready to go play in the snow then an evil webpage protecting assassin.
