Q&A Session
Q: WTF, yo? Where you at?
A: Right here! Hi! Thank most of you for your patience during the Omar outage of 2008. I have been pretty busy and haven't had a ton of free computer time, but I've kept up pretty well with everyone's sites.
Q: I thought you said you were moving your blog?
A: I am.
Q: But... it's still right here.
A: Yes. I have been experiencing some trouble with coming up with a suitable domain name that is both appropriate and available. I can be indecisive when it comes to things like this. And though I know I've said this before, I think I'll have the new site up --
Q: So you mean to tell me that you haven't been blogging because you can't make up your mind and pick a domain name?!
A: I sense a touch of hostility...
Q: Good.
A: Um...
Q: How's the new kid?
A: She's growing, crying, grunting, eating, peeing, and pooping. Par for the course.
Q: You take a month off and that's all you have to say about your kid?
A: Having our daughter with us has been a beautiful, life-changing experience. As soon as I get some sleep, I'll be able to coherently tell you about it.
Q: Is her on-blog name "the girl," to keep with the existing theme?
A: I'm not sure yet. Probably, though. We call the boy "the boy" at home. That's actually why I started using those names, "the boy" and "the wife." I actually say those in real life, and have been doing so since before I had a blog. But the girl goes by "baby sister" or some other nickname. I don't call her "the girl" in conversation, at least not yet. So that's why I'm not sure.
Q: How's her mid-forearm fat roll?
A: It's developing nicely.
Q: How's the boy dealing with it?
A: Very well! He loves his baby sister and is very gentle with her.
Q: Should your readers expect another month to pass before your next post?
A: No. I think it's safe to say that the break is over.

What an adorable fat roll!
Why oh why can't mid-forearm fat rolls be adorable on the over-30 woman?
Uh, were you saying something about your blog? I saw baby chub and lost focus on everything else.

that mid-forearm fat roll is very impressive. baby sister seems to be living up to the high standards set by the boy.
don't rush on picking a new name; i chose mine on the spur of the angsty moment, which is why i have a different username, blog name and blog address. i've been contemplating a domain change myself, and even bought a site, but then i wasn't committed enough to the change so i left it alone.
you'll figure it out when you're ready.

I haven't even gone on break and you're still out-posting me... Does this mean I'm lazy?
Just don't shorten the nickname to BS and I think you'll be alright.
Domain names can be tough, especially when the one you really want is taken by someone that doesn't even use it, or worse yet, just has a crappy site.

oh, and let's try to avoid calling the boy, TB. That's not so good either. People will think you have diseased children that lie constantly.

REALLY?! the break is over? when i saw this post on my reader i whooped for joy. bloglife is just not the same without you, omar. yay for baby sister's fat roll. and i completely understand about the lack of sleep/coherency. this is what is keeping me from getting prego anytime soon.

Awww, baby rolls.
So, the whole blog break and the domain name...was that Joshua Barton's idea, perhaps?

Aw! The skin fold! Loooove it!
That is so awesome about "the boy" and "the wife" in real life. I call Ted "the boyfriend" sometimes...it's fun....and hip...some might say it's boss.

Yayyy!! That wasn't too long an outage (certainly not as long as I expected, which was until one of them was in kindergarten). Anyway, welcome back.
Q: Does your family call you "the man" or "the husband" or "the dad"?
Q: How about "Omar-ama" for your website? I guess "the big O" is not a viable option for a domain. Why don't you have a naming contest and offer fabulous prizes?
C (comment): I too love that photo of your daughter's arm roll. Those little fat pads are so CUTE on babies!! Not so cute on grown ups but SO adorable on babies.
Like the previous post-er, I would like to see the leg rolls. (In hindsight, that could be construed negatively, but hopefully you know I mean that in a "that's one of the cutest things about babies besides their toes" and not an "Oh lord another psycho to block from my site" kind of way.)
Welcome back. I've missed you. Now I have to update my blog to say you're back since I called you "the late-lamented but not the late" in a previous post...

Ah-ha! Wonderful roll o' fat on the girl, there. I hope you survive the sleep deprivation okay. I HATE the sleep deprivation. The sleep deprivation is of the devil. Down with the sleep deprivation!
And welcome back. But if you have a choice between taking a nap and blogging, take a nap. BECAUSE SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS ROTTEN!
